07:31 on sameness and difference
I have a dream, that I think many others in this strange internet space share, of a unifying system or framework for all the digital debris in my life. Something to bring it all together and find patterns from the chaos
There's something about sameness that makes things disappear. If I want to always notice something it should always be a little different.
This is most relevant when it comes to programmable attention. This tweet from Person/Azlen Elza comes to mind. Is there some generative and interesting artifact that can bring attention repeatedly everyday?
The collaborative output of discussion can take many formsāand through the process of learning and researching you can create an artifact to leave behind
A token of what you have learnt, but also a trail for those who follow in your footsteps
I've always liked the idea of tieing the digital to the physical but the 2d-ness of the digital world translates to a certain flatness in the physical that moves in opposition to novel attention
Using unique artifacts could help combat that
When a book or a series of unopened letters sits on a table for too long it's almost as if they no longer exist. They are static content in static space. There's still a disconnect with dynamic content and static space. Static-ness of the content is not far from true unchanging.
So how do you combat that? In a very real sense changing of visual cues in a unrecognizable pattern or no pattern at all could be a first step to solving this. Changing layout changing color font visuals anything that would play into catching your attention. But also be interesting to investigate on weave when it comes to the differences. He's continuous ever changing difference its own form of static?
